This article shows you how to connect Claude Code to Loopster, ask it to build a table and run a function, and disconnect it when you are done.

How do I connect Claude Code to Loopster?

Loopster has an MCP server, so an AI agent such as Claude Code can work in your Loopster tables.

Signing in needs no API key. If you want to use a key instead, see "How do I connect with an API key instead?" at the end of this article.

  1. In your terminal, add Loopster's server with this command. Claude Code saves it to your local config.

claude mcp add --transport http loopster https://app.loopster.ai/api/mcp

Below it, the terminal reports that the HTTP MCP server loopster was added to the local config.

  1. Start Claude Code.

  1. Right away, Claude Code says "1 MCP server needs authentication". Type /mcp to open the server list. Pick loopster, then choose Authenticate. Your browser opens.

Claude Code's start screen with the warning "1 MCP server needs authentication · run /mcp". Below it, the Manage MCP servers list shows one server, loopster, marked needs authentication.

  1. Loopster asks you to confirm. The page is titled "Connect Claude Code (loopster) to Loopster?" and its description says: "It will be able to do what you can do in the workspace you pick: read and edit tables, run functions, and start enrichment — which spends from that workspace's wallet. You can disconnect it any time from workspace settings."

The Loopster page titled Connect Claude Code (loopster) to Loopster? It shows a description of what Claude Code will be able to do, a Workspace menu, a Connect button and a Cancel button.

  1. Pick the workspace Claude Code should work in from the Workspace menu, then click Connect.

  2. Your browser says "Authentication successful" and "You can close this tab and return to Claude Code." Close the tab.

  3. Back in Claude Code, the sign-in has worked. It says "Authentication successful. Connected to loopster."

Claude Code after the /mcp command, showing the message "Authentication successful. Connected to loopster."

How do I ask Claude Code to build a table?

  1. In Claude Code, ask in plain words. For example: "Find 5 software companies in the United States in Loopster Data and put them in a new table called MCP demo. Then add a Company profile column and run it. Keep the reply short."

  2. Wait while Claude Code works. In this example it takes about a minute. It then reports the table it created, the Company profile column it added and ran, whether every row finished without errors, and what the run cost. In this example the run cost $0.

  3. Open Home in Loopster. The new workbook is the top row. In this example it is called "MCP demo". Click it, then open the table inside the workbook. The table has 5 rows, and the Company profile column is filled in.

The MCP demo table in Loopster with five rows. The columns are Input, Company, Domain, LinkedIn URL, Location and Company profile, and each row has a value in the Company profile column.

How do I let Claude Code run a function?

Agents can run your Functions too, once you switch that on for the function.

  1. Open Functions in the sidebar and click the function you want agents to run.

  2. On the function's live page, under Access permissions, switch on Agents can run this function. The help text under the switch says "Runs bill normally."

The live page of the function Company industry from domain, with a panel on the right. In its Access permissions section, the switch Agents can run this function is on, with help text under it.

  1. Go back to Claude Code and ask it to run the function. For example: "Run the Company industry from domain function on hubspot.com." Use the name of your own function in place of "Company industry from domain". Claude Code runs the function and reports the industry it returned for hubspot.com and what the run cost. In this example the run cost $0.

How do I see and disconnect Claude Code in Loopster?

  1. Open Settings, then Loopster API.

  2. Find Connected agents. It says "AI agents authorized to use this workspace over MCP. Each acts with the permissions of the person who connected it." Your connection is listed as "Claude Code (loopster)", with a Disconnect button.

The Loopster API page in Settings. It shows an API Keys section with a Create a key form: a name box, a role menu showing Editor — read, write and run, an expiry menu showing Never expires, a Can't start paid work tick box and a Create key button. Below it, the Connected agents section lists Claude Code (loopster) with a Disconnect button.

  1. To disconnect it, click Disconnect. You can do this at any time.

How do I connect with an API key instead?

For scripts, or tools that can't sign in, use an API key instead.

  1. Open Settings, then Loopster API. The Create a key form is on the same page, above Connected agents. Under Create a key, type a name. The page says "Name it after what will use it. Give it the least access that integration needs."

  2. Pick a role: Member — read only, Editor — read, write and run or Admin — everything an API key can do.

  3. Pick when the key ends: Never expires, Expires in 30 days, Expires in 90 days or Expires in 1 year.

  4. Click Create key.

  5. Exit Claude Code. Then add the server with your key in an Authorization header. Replace YOUR_LOOPSTER_API_KEY with your key.

claude mcp add --transport http loopster https://app.loopster.ai/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_LOOPSTER_API_KEY"

A terminal showing the claude mcp add command for loopster with --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_LOOPSTER_API_KEY" added at the end. The key is a placeholder.

Good to know

  • Tools that run enrichment or Functions can spend from the workspace's wallet. The consent page says enrichment "spends from that workspace's wallet". To keep an agent's spending under control, see Your wallet and keeping spend under control and Connect Loopster to Claude Code and other AI tools (MCP).

  • When you sign in, Claude Code acts with the permissions of the person who connected it.

  • With an API key, the tools work in the workspace that owns the key.

  • Switch Auto-run off on a table before an agent adds rows to it. With Auto-run off, the new rows do not run or spend until a run is started. See Run columns safely: Auto-run, test one row, then run the rest.

  • An agent cannot run a function that is still a draft, or one that has Agents can run this function switched off.

  • To check the connection, ask Claude Code for something that only reads, such as "List my Loopster tables."

  • Claude Code's wording varies from run to run, so your reply will not match word for word.

  • Ending your request with "Keep the reply short." kept the reply tidy in this example.

  • If you connect with a key, it is saved in your Claude Code configuration. Keep that configuration private.
